Eduroam – wireless internet access for students and staff in the educational world
Eduroam is a global collaboration where research and educational institutions provide each other's students and staff with access to wireless networks across institutions. Thus, a student at a Danish university may go online at a university abroad without having to register as a user.
Use eduroam worldwide
More than 15,000 sites offer eduroam. Eduroam is massively widespread in Europe and is available in 72 countries and territories worldwide.
Free of charge
The user is granted an internet connection free of charge.
Danish universities and university colleges
In Denmark, the universities and university colleges participate in eduroam. All institutions involved in research or education may participate in eduroam. There are currently about 250,000 Danish users.
Millions of logins each month
Danish eduroam handled at the end of 2015 six million logins per month. The number covers roaming, where the user is outside her home institution - i.e. guest on a foreign Wi-Fi.
Eduroam in city nets
DeiC is working to establish eduroam service in cities and traffic hubs. In 2015, the first municipalities allowed access to eduroam in their Wi-Fi solutions for citizens: Aarhus, Aalborg and Lyngby-Taarbæk.
Security in eduroam
Be aware that eduroam must be installed on your devices to achieve the necessary security. Use eduroam CAT or an authorized installation guide from your home institution.
